The saga continues...
So, where we thought we'd found a place to live, it now turns out that ... well, no, it's probably maybe not going to be available, perhaps.
The plan was, that there would be Work Done - primarily installation of central heating - starting 18th Dec. That was fine - moving in afterwards was a bit later than optimal, but it would have worked out, as I don't start work until the new year.

Sadly, having spoken to them today, the original contractor has fallen through, and the landlord is 'being evasive' about when he'll be wanting to get it done now. I think that means he's actually figured out what it'll cost, and is having second thoughts. But either way, with no solid date on when the property is available - at all - ... it's a non starter. Pity really, as it was kind of nice. And doubly so, as ... well, Chrismas week really isn't the best sort of time to be househunting, you know? And in the near year - whilst better on that front - suddenly gets a whole lot more annoying as I'm going to be dealing with a working schedule as well - for both looking and moving.

So, back to square one. Two weeks later, when things are just that much harder and busier. There's still things that catch the eye, and we'll be arranging to go see those, but .... well, it's all kind of frustrating really. This whole thing - job change, etc. has taken an _awfully_ long time to trundle along, and it has been not a lot of fun to have to hurry up and wait.

I'm sorry that's fallen through. It can be a massive pain. We were lucky to only have a week overlap when we first moved in together until the house was ready.

Welcome to the world of house buying, last time it took me 4 months to get from offer to signed contracts and that was with no chain and a cash purchase.
