Walking - Ed's journal
Walked to work and back yesterday. 4.1miles each way. I don't think I've actually walked that far in a day for _quite_ some time. Took a bit under an hour and a half, and I ended up on 20k steps for the day (usefully over the 11k target).

Not as bad as I thought, although time consuming.
Given how awful the parking is here, I might have to do it more often.

I love walking to work in the morning. It clears your mind, gives you a bit of space and prepares you for the day with a positive outlook. I used to regularly get off the bus early and walk the last half an hour. Others say the same thing about cycling. I especially love walking in the rain, though you do need to keep a change of clothes at work just in case.

You'll get faster as you get used to it, and then your journey time will stay pretty stable. It won't depend on traffic, roadworks or anything you can't control.

I have been walking to and from work for about 2 years now, although it is less than a mile away. I suppose I could start adding detours that take me up and down a few hills.

When I was living 4 miles away from town I did walk home a few times. Although this was usually in the early hours of the morning after a few ales. I did ride the 4 miles for a while, until I came off and sprained my ankle :(
