Bupa Wellness medical thingummy - Ed's journal
Bupa Wellness medical thingummy
Well, work were paying, so I went to an 'advanced wellness medical' thingy today, with Bupa.

I was actually quite pleased with the results - I'm overweight by a large margin (it's a shock), but otherwise actually in quite good shape - all the other 'bad stuff' type indicators, related to general health are actually very good indeed - seems like the regular exercise has paid off - in most areas I was 'average' to 'good', which ... well, is for an average bloke of my age, who isn't also 30kg overweight.

Identified a few things to be going on with - I now have an Fitbug and quite a lot of pretty pictures of ECGs, airflows, and stuff like that which satisfy my inner geek.
And have picked up on a few things that I can work on going forward (above and beyond the hopelessly and uselessly generic 'exercise more', which ... well, frankly I've been working on it for like, ages now and failing dismally, so it's not been quite right). Specificallly, it seems I've actually been exercising too hard at the gym, for what I'm trying to accomplish - that's why my fitness is scoring very well, but why I'm not actually losing much weight.

Well, anyway. Figuring out the logistics of adding more 'moderate' activity into my day is the next task - sadly walking/cycling to work have some problems with viability, related to ... well, being a suit, changing/shower facilities and shuffling around laptop and gym kit. Oh, and storing a bike if I go that route.
Walking... is also on the upper edge of the distance that's sensible - 4 miles - so I might have to consider bus half way or something.

You could always bus as far as Tile Hill and walk the rest of the way with Paul, Jude and myself - it's about time we started walking regularly again.

It would just depend on timing, mostly. We aim to get to the end of the business park for about 8.20.

Well if it helps, its just over 1 mile from the bus stop at teh top of Charter Ave (where the 19 dropsoff)and from the Bus stop next to Varsity on Kirby corner road(where number 12 drops off) to your work. so you could just grab a bus to there and walk the rest of the way, Westwood business park is slightly uphill walking into it so is a good work out. Early morning Bus's are usually okay.

Otherwise you could always train to tile hill station and walk from there.. you can go through housing estate or through woods into teh back end of the business park. I found them nice walks evbe in pouring rain:)

Otherwise you could consider parking the car away from work and walking the rest of the distance?

which reminds me my cycle is in need of mechanical repair..
