V A C A N C Y

Senior Oracle Database Administrator
UK ITC Applications Group, Rugby

As a result of an increase in the volume of applications supported within this group there is a vacancy for a highly motivated individual to join the established Oracle DBA team within the Applications Group based in Rugby, UK.

The ITC e-Business Hosting Centre supports over 50 internet, intranet and extranet applications using a range of technologies, for customers throughout the world-wide ALSTOM organisation. These include all principal internet and intranet portals along with an increasing number of complex transactional applications.

Main responsibilities will be centred on the set-up and on-going support of Oracle databases within the UK Data Centre, although some databases are located on other UK sites. Applications supported are local, national and international with a large number of ALSTOM web applications running on Oracle.

Applicants should be excellent technical problem solvers, able to work under pressure and be customer focused. At least 5 years Oracle DBA experience is required. Experience of Oracle v8 and v9i is required, with experience of v7 and v10g being desirable. Extensive experience of Oracle back-up and recovery including use of RMAN is sought. Knowledge of SQLServer and Oracle applications would also be useful.

It is essential, due to the senior nature of this role, that the successful candidate is a self motivated, proven problem solver.

This role will require both scheduled and unscheduled out of hours working due to the 7*24 nature of the applications being supported.

Ideally candidates should be Oracle certified in appropriate areas.
