"Savoury" Turkey?
I was behind someone in subway today, who was really quite insistant that she have _savoury_ turkey.
Not just 'turkey, cheese, no salad', but no, corrected the poor Sandwich Artist (yes, that is what they're called) that it was _savoury_ turkey.

Have I missed something?
Are there other kinds?

However I have now procured new towels for my swim and sauna habit. Beats having to rotate 2, wash 'em, and hope they dry out before going swimming again. So might try and get there tonight too.

This week is degenerating into bedlam, with 'performance problems' all over the place. Since friday 'our network' has been ... well not quite so much slow, as wonky. And so helldesk call after helldesk call is raised. Now, we've got the new guy in, who's got all of 1.5 weeks of seasoning, but when the only answer is 'we don't know, it's probably just overloaded' we don't have a recipe for happy people.

Oh, and if you want support requests, or problems fixing, I can _guarantee_ you it'll work a whole lot faster if you give me the information I need to fix it, rather than having to chase it down. Yes, I appreciate that from an asset tag I'm supposed to be able to discover a lot about a machine, but _more details_ means faster diagnosis.

A call that consists of 'my system is slow' and a phone number is not the kind I appreciate.

I also don't appreciate the kind of call that I had the other day, that was: We have hired a contractor, and a unix workstation, and he's here for a week as of today. But he can't do anything on the network, and we need him to do stuff. This has upset me. I know it's not _his_ fault, so I haven't ripped his nadgers off and stuffed them down his throat, but the fact that 'a project manager' who shall remain nameless, has seen fit to 'arrange stuff' and then make it an emergency when he realised that he didn't have a clue what he was doing, is also the kind of thing that annoys me.

Well, no. We have in house kit. We have a 'new user account request' system. We have servers, that no, you can't just have the root password on, especially as the guy who was wanting to use it wasn't even an employee of this company.

I believe the line is: "A lack of planning or competence on your part, does not constitute a failure or emergency on mine."

Grr.

Sorry to hear you're having 'performance problems' ;o)

If you do decide to go swim this eve, let me know and I may tag along.

I think I shall.
Don't quite know what time yet, but I'll probably aim to be going about 17:00 this evening.

(By which I mean, leaving work and heading to the Gym)

Ah... not so good. I'll probably finish here about 5.30, spend 10 mins walking to my car, and another 45 driving home, then would need to pick up my swim stuff, so would be 7pm before I could make it :o( Oh well.

Well, that bit's negotiable - leaving at 5pm -ish often means it's gone six before I've actually got there.

Okay, well, gimme a text a bit later and let me know what's going on. Wouldn't normally matter too much but if I'm not mistaken you'll have to sign me in as a guest.

Oh, and I'm devastated that my crude pun went unappreciated!

That'd be the case. Shall I pick you up about 7pm?

Could do. Or I can meet you there if that'd be easier? I also think we ought to sample a glass of the wine on offer at the Village while we're there. I'll need to assess the place thoroughly if I'm going to join ;o)

Take your pick, I don't mind either :).
Stopping afterwards probably wouldn't hurt either, depending on how time goes.

Okay... Given my extreme laziness, I'll opt for the lift. See you at about 6.45?

OK

Savoury turkey? Hm. I'd be supportive of the 'poor sandwich artist' but I have my own private row with Subway since they stopped serving real cheese and skimping on the rubbery, unreal stuff they use as a replacement. I also think 'sandwich artist' is a horribly pretentious term, given the amount of actual individuality permitted in creating a Subway sandwich.
